Reasonable Suspicion Training
Wednesday, September 18, 2024 (8:30 AM - 10:00 AM) (CDT)
Description
The NTA offers reasonable suspicion training for supervisors of drivers who are subject to controlled substance and alcohol testing regulations under § 382.307. Make sure you have completed the FMSCA required one-time reasonable suspicion training under § 382.603.
The course includes 60 minutes on alcohol misuse, and 60 minutes on controlled substance use, followed by a question-and-answer session with industry experts. We'll teach you to identify physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators that may create reasonable suspicion that a driver is using or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, supporting a referral for testing.
Course Curriculum:
- A DOT drug and alcohol testing rules and regulations overview
- The supervisor's role in a drug and alcohol testing program
- Signs of drug and alcohol use and abuse
- Interview techniques
- Documentation processes
- Health effects of drug and alcohol use, short and long term
- An in-depth look at specific DOT-tested drugs.
You will receive a certificate of completion after completing the class.
