Join your Nebraska Trucking Association for lunch and a presentation on new Entry Level Driver Training guidance presented by officials from FMCSA. The industry is preparing for FMCSA's new entry-level driver training (ELDT) requirements. The ELDT rule sets minimum standards for general knowledge and behind-the-wheel training.

PRESENTER

Jennifer Bell is State Program Manager for the FMCSA Nebraska Division. Bell assists the Nebraska State Patrol and Department of Motor Vehicles with inspection and CDL programs. Her newest assignment is the Entry Level Driver Training Program. Bell previously served 27 years with the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement where she worked as a road officer. She implemented new software to catalog the MVE evidence room, coordinated industry training and managed MVE federal programs and grants.

ABOUT THE NEW REQUIREMENT

Beginning Feb. 7, 2022, an entry-level driver will only be permitted to take the relevant CDL skills or knowledge test after completing the training required by the ELDT regulations, from a provider listed on the Training Provider Registry. This includes an individual seeking to take the CDL skills test required to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL for the first time; to upgrade an existing Class B to a Class A CDL; or to obtain a passenger (P) or school bus (S) endorsement for the first time. It also includes an individual seeking to take the knowledge test required to obtain a hazardous materials (H) endorsement for the first time.
